ISO 9001:2008 Internal Auditing

SMEs looking to gain ISO 9001 Certification must consider the requirement for the ongoing assessment of the Quality Management System (QMS). Accreditation bodies will expect to see evidence of Internal Audit, Preventative and Corrective Actions.

So how can an SME fulfil this requirement in situations where such competencies do not exist within the Organisation or where there is a likely conflict of interest?

The answer is to engage periodically with competent "Internal Auditors", i.e. those outside of the certifying bodies.

At EBM Peter has recently achieved Certification of Competence for Quality Management Systems, Lead Auditor Status. This enables him to objectively assess QMS compliance across your Organisation.
